TIDAL WAVE OF LABOR ENDORSEMENTS CONTINUES FOR EMILY RANDALL WITH BACKING OF WASHINGTON FEDERATION OF STATE EMPLOYEES

WFSE: “Emily has deep roots in the district.”

BREMERTON, WA— Today, State Senate Deputy Majority Leader Emily Randall’s campaign for Congress announced the “proud” endorsement of her campaign for Congress by AFSCME Council 28, the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).

WFSE is one of the largest labor unions in Washington state, representing “nearly 47,000 state and other public service workers.” WFSE members voted to make Emily Randall the only candidate they support in the Sixth Congressional District.

“WFSE is very proud to endorse Emily Randall, who has been a champion for labor in Washington State. Emily is the clear choice for Washington’s Sixth Congressional District. Born and raised in Kitsap County in a Union household, Emily has deep roots in the district and comes from a working-class family,” said Mike Yestramski, President of WFSE. “She fights hard for regular people and she has fought hard alongside WFSE workers, especially in the areas of child welfare and behavioral health services. Emily has expanded apprenticeships and training programs, creating important pathways to good jobs for people in her district and across our state. We look forward to working with Emily in Congress.”

WFSE’s endorsement builds on significant labor momentum for Emily’s campaign in recent weeks, joining the strong endorsements of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), District 751 and UA Local 32 Plumbers and Pipefitters. Emily has been recognized for her record as a labor champion since joining the State Senate.

“Like many in the 6th Congressional District, I grew up in a hardworking Union household. My mom is a paraeducator at South Kitsap High School, my dad was a shipfitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and my wife is now an apprentice carpenter. I’m so proud to receive the endorsement of the Washington Federation of State Employees,” said Deputy Majority Leader Emily Randall. “My Union family didn’t always have it easy. But I saw my parents and my neighbors work hard, and I learned those lessons. That’s why I’ve spent my career finding common-sense, practical solutions to the problems our communities face, fighting alongside working people and Union members to ensure we all have the tools we need to build our own futures. I am running for Congress to continue to fight for good Union jobs for working families, and I look forward to working hand in hand with WFSE.”

WFSE’s impactful endorsement follows the release of a poll conducted in the last two weeks that shows Emily in a commanding double-digit lead over opponent Hilary Franz after voters learn basic information about the three candidates in the race. Read the polling memo HERE for more information.
